Soul Caliber Trauma
My thumbs hurt from playing Soul Caliber 3 at Scott's house. I guess it's not so bad. Jadyn's Soul Caliber trauma put her on medication.
The line in Fall Out Boy's Sugar We're Going Down that goes, "I'm just a notch in your bedpost but you're just a line in a song" pretty much sums up the Emo genre. Maybe not so much the early incarnations, but the pretty recent stuff, thats for sure.
Listening to songs by Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, All American Rejects, etc., portray women as uncaring, unemotional, vengeful, lying, cheating, one-sided people, it's pretty sad. And when you think about it, it's all for art. These scenerios are created to write a song. Probably not to sell records, but definately for the fans. Because everyone feels the victim and wants a song to identify with.
It's kind of a cool point in pop music. Sure in the 70s and early 80s David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Grace Jones brought androgeny to Rock. And Robert Smith may have wore eyeliner, but now Brandon Flowers is singing about dating girls who look like boys and crushes on boys he had in high school.
But maybe bands like Fall Out Boy are doing more to break down stereotypes of gender roles just by whining about girls that dicked them over.
